Frequently asked questions.
When is the best time to visit?
Each season offers something unique — crisp mornings and green hills after the rains, or clear skies and golden light during the dry months. Wildlife viewing is excellent throughout, and Laikipia’s mild highland climate makes it comfortable any time of year. Be prepared for cool mornings and hot afternoons - bring a jacket with you.
Are children allowed are there any age restrictions?
Yes, children are warmly welcome. Wiz’s Camp is designed for families who love being outdoors — fishing in the river, spotting wildlife, or exploring safely within camp. There’s no minimum age, but parents should supervise little ones, as this is a true bush experience. We can arrange nannies when required.
Is there really no WIFI? - What about power?
That’s right. Wiz’s Camp runs on solar power and has no routinely available Wi-Fi. It’s a chance to truly unplug — to swap screens for stars and conversation. Devices can be charged in camp, but guests usually find the slower rhythm refreshing. - That said if WIFI really is needed we are able to fire up a system that will get you connected.
What animals will we see? Is it safe?
The camp sits within a private 14,000-acre ranch rich with elephant, giraffe, leopard, cheetah and various plain’s game. We also are lucky enough to have many of the animals that are endemic to only the north of Kenya. Occasionally we have lion and Wild Dog in the area, although their ranges are large and they generally only cross the ranch. The camp area is fenced although guests are required to keep their eyes open just in case. We are located in a low-risk malaria zone at an altitude of 1700m and so mosquitos are not a problem.
