Tracking With Researchers
Research in the Wild: Guests with an interest in conservation can spend time with researchers from the neighbouring Mpala Ranch, joining their field teams for a morning or day of hands-on study.
Field Experiences: Track and observe species such as wild dogs or baboons, learning how data is gathered and what it reveals about Kenya’s changing ecosystems.
Insight and Connection: It’s a rare opportunity to see science in action — to walk beside those working to understand and protect the wild places you’re part of.

Massage and Relaxation.
The Massage Tree: Massages take place beneath the shade of The Massage Tree — a quiet spot set away from camp where birdsong and breeze set the rhythm.
Skilled Hands: Our in-house, professionally trained masseuse offers treatments included in your stay — from deep relaxation to gentle post-safari unwinding.
River Wallow Pot: For something different, soak in our open-air river bath, cast in 1937, found and reinvented by Wiz — hot water, wild views, and river all to yourself.

Children
FreeRange at Wiz’s Camp gives children the freedom to explore, build, and create — learning bushcraft, resourcefulness, and respect for nature through hands-on adventures.
Activities include fire building, track casting, bow and arrow making, beading, bush cooking and art, mapping and wildlife discovery — guided with warmth, humour, and care.
Designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and connection, the programme lets children experience the wild as it should be — muddy, imaginative, and wonderfully real.
With three children of our own, we know how to keep them entertained in the bush

River
Our stretch of the Ewaso Nyiro River offers simple pleasures — try your hand at fishing for catfish or barbel, or cool off when the water runs low.
In the right season, the shallows become a playground — swimming, splashing, and muddy laughter beneath the Laikipia sun.

Bush Dining and Fancy Dress
Whether in the bush, by the fire, or in the mess, dinners are always a highlight — lantern light, good food, and easy conversation carrying long into the night.
Wiz loves to dress for dinner, and guests are welcome to join the fun — from linen and loafers to something pulled from the fancy dress tent, there’s always room for a touch of flair.
Meals are relaxed yet memorable — fine food served well, laughter drifting through the canvas, and that unmistakable feeling of being exactly where you want to be.

Cattle Ranching
Wiz’s Camp sits on a working cattle ranch, where livestock and wildlife share the same landscape — a living example of harmony between conservation and agriculture.
Guests are welcome to visit the weekly cattle dip, usually held on Tuesdays, to watch the process and learn how the herd is cared for.
It’s a fascinating glimpse into ranch life on Laikipia — understanding how careful land management allows both cattle and wild species to thrive side by side.
